World Book Day Celebrations

Today we have been celebrating World Book Day and our theme this year is ‘Curl up and share a good book’. Children and staff have been in school today wearing their Pyjamas and nightwear.

We started the day with a whole school assembly where Mr Upstone and Miss Upstone spoke to the children about reading and our new Reading Ambassadors talked about new titles that they have enjoyed reading. We also had special visits from some Masked Readers (above)!

The children absolutely loved the videos of our 3 masked readers and enjoyed guessing who were in the costumes. A big thankyou to Mrs Hancock, Mr Alder and Mrs Fisher for taking part, it was brilliant!

BLPS Reading Newsletter

Working together with our teachers, our Reading Ambassadors have created our first BLPS Reading Newsletter. This is full of ideas for books to read, book based activities and puzzles. Copies of the newsletter can be found in our school library or on our school website Reading Curriculum page. You can also download your copy here.

Reading with Mrs Harwood

Throughout the day children have been doing book based activities and this afternoon the children have been moving around school to listen to a story, read by their chosen teacher, and looking at the themed door on all of the classrooms. To round off the day we have been doing a whole school read.

Book Themed Doors

Everyone has worked tremendously hard on their book themed classroom doors and these look fantastic as you walk around school.
