Eco & Community Club
Congratulations to our Eco and Community Club which has been awarded a Bronze Award in the RSPB Wild Challenge for Schools. This has also earnt Bracken Leas a ‘School for Nature’ recognition certificate.
Since September, our club has been working on projects around the school grounds and begun working on the RSPB award scheme in January.
The club has achieved the following over the last year:
· Regular litter picking around school
· Making bird feeders
· Organising Year 5’s participation in the Big School Bird Watch
· Planted the daffodils around the playground and created signs to help protect the area
· Surveyed the whole school grounds for wildlife habitats and created an action plan for projects to increase diversity
· Undertaken a minibeast safari
· Planted wildflowers in pots
· Germinated sunflower seeds for every class & Mrs Harwood 😊
· Made a chocolate wreath that the Signing Club took to the Older People’s Home
· Organised for new bins to be bought for the field
We are already working on the Silver Award and will continue with this in September! Certificates have been awarded to all current and past members of the club which will continue
