Festive Fun at Bracken Leas
The past few weeks have been very busy and full of festive fun. The festivities began as we prepared to welcome parents into the school with the creation and installation of our annual Christmas Hoops. These have been a tradition for many years at Bracken Leas and this year each year group had a colour theme to work on. We also held our Christmas Tree assembly with thanks to Wappenham Farm for our tree.
Christmas Cheer
We began our celebrations at the beginning of December with our annual Christmas Cheer Concert. This musical event included children from across our school including Funkeys Music School, our Bracken Leas singers and children learning to play instruments with NMPAT. The concert was simply magical and a delight to listen to. It was clearly evident that everyone had been working very hard in their music lessons.
School Santa Run & Christmas Jumper Day
Friday 6th December was full of festive fun. Children swapped their school jumpers for festive jumpers in support of Save the Children and took part in our School Santa Run for Katharine House Hospice We raised over £400 for these charities through parent donations to these two incredible charities.
FOBL Christmas Fayre
Christmas celebrations continued with our annual FOBL Christmas Fayre and visits to Santa. Team FOBL did an incredible job of organising this event, raising much needed funds for our school. Assisted by a team of Year 6 helpers, the fair was a great success.
Singing at Brackley Community Hospital
Our Year 6 Bracken Leas Singers performed for staff and patients at Brackley Community Hospital last week. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed bringing some Christmas cheer to our local community. A big thank-you to Mrs Fisher who works so hard at this time of year especially, ensuring music is embedded in our school curriculum.
Christmas Performances

Last week was all about our school performances. Children from Early Years to Key Stage 1 and Year 3/4 took part with some beautiful singing and acting. Year 3/4 gave a very special performance at a packed St Peter’s Church. Thanks to all of the staff at Bracken Leas for their commitment to planning, organising and delivering our packed Christmas Schedule.
A Visit to the Post Box

Our Early Years children recently paid a visit to our local post box. As a celebration of writing in EYFS, the children independently wrote their own Christmas card, which they posted to their special person. They have learned about stamps, addressing an envelope and how letters are delivered.
Jolly Christmas Postman
On Tuesday this week we took Early Years, Year 1 and Year 2 to see The Jolly Christmas Postman at the Royal and Derngate in Northampton. The children were very well behaved and thoroughly enjoyed this magical performance.
