Girls on Track UK at Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team

Some of our Year 5 students were chosen to attend Mercedes-AMG Petronas in Brackley for a Girls on Track UK event. Girls on Track UK, formerly ‘Dare to be Different’, is an initiative managed by Motorsport UK, whose main aim is to inspire, connect and showcase females in motorsport as well as in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) subjects. Through active, engaging activity days for schools, they aim to excite and encourage girls into believing that there is a rightful place for females within the motorsports industry.

On this day children had the opportunity to:  Have the chance to see the 9 times world champion winning Formula One team of Mercedes,  Meet female role models from the team,  Get up close to a life sized Formula 1 car,  Take part in an engineering challenge,  Work with a motorsport presenter on a presenting challenge.
