Sporting Events Round Up

This term has been a busy one for sporting events. From new age kurling to rugby, football, gymnastics and cross country. Bracken Leas children from across the year groups have been taking part.

At the start of this term Mrs S Williams took a group of children to the South Northants Year 3 and 4 Tag Tournament. 26 schools took part and we finished 10th. The children all played extremely well and scored an impressive 23 tries over 6 games. Towcestarians hosted the event with NSB for refereeing.

In mid November a group of Key Stage 2 children went to a New Age Kurling event at Sponne Secondary School. All the children thoroughly enjoyed the event showing brilliant teamwork and passion from all.

Miss Wilkinson also took 4 children from The Hawksmoor Learning Trust on a new sporting event on our calendar: The Thornton College Trail. This was a combination of children from Bracken Leas and The Radstone. They all ran brilliantly and gave it everything they could! Our squad placed 3rd out of 19, an incredible achievement.

At this time Miss Caisley took a group of year 6 boys to a football tournament in Daventry. We came 2nd in our initial pool and then went on to come 7th overall out of 16 schools. The boys played six matches in total and showed great sportsmanship, passion and determination throughout.

During the afternoon of 20th November four children from year 2 and 3 represented our school at the Brackley Cluster Schools Gymnastics competition at Brackley Leisure Centre. They spent the afternoon perfecting various gymnastics skills and then performed them to an audience of parents at the end. They all worked really hard and had a great time.

Finally, on the 21st November Miss Wilkinson took a team of girls to a football tournament in Daventry. It was extremely cold but they did so well in those conditions. We won our first pool then went through to the plays offs where we finished 4th out of the 15 schools that were there only losing one game! We are extremely proud of all of them.
