Year 5 Visit to RBN Gurdwara Sahib Northampton
Last week our Year 5 children visited RBN Gurdwara Sahib Northampton in order for them to experience a Sikh place of worship and support their current topic about Sikhism.
The children took part in a tour around the Gurdwara, viewed the holy scriptures and participated in an interactive presentation about Sikhism. This was followed by an opportunity for the children to ask questions as well as being served chips and beans in the Langar. This is a communal kitchen found in Sikh Gurdwaras where a free vegetarian meal is served to everyone, regardless of their religion, caste, or social status. Essentially, it’s a community kitchen where everyone eats together as equals.
Children were also asked to donate a vegetarian item to the Gurdwara’s foodbank as part of their visit.
